By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Bakersfield police are searching for a man they say attempted to kidnap a female teenager Saturday morning.

The suspect -- described as a black man in his late 30s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a large build -- grabbed and tried unsuccessfully to force the teen into his vehicle in the 3400 block of Chester Avenue, according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release Saturday night.

The man's vehicle was described as a dark green, four-door Honda Accord from the late 1990s, with rear tinted windows.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the department at 327-7111, or call Detective Mitch Galland directly at 326-3557.
