BPD: Replica gun used to rob owner of new Playstation 4

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Someone bought a new Playstation 4 gaming console Friday morning, but didn't have it for long.

Bakersfield Police said the owner was robbed at gunpoint -- with what turned out to be a replica gun -- at about 12:25 a.m. at Valley Plaza.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and red hat. Police said the suspect was picked up in a maroon sedan.

Officers found the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the sedan failed to pull over and led officers on a short pursuit. The driver was apprehended and the replica gun was found in the car.

Officers' investigation led them to an apartment in the 3100 block of Coventry Drive where they found the stolen gaming console.

Officers arrested 20-year-old Maurice Boyd and 19-year-old Marcus Jenkins on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and evading. Anyone with information is asked to call the BPD at 327-7111.
