Three injured in car crash
By BREAKING NEWS
Three people suffered minor injuries in a Tuesday night car crash in south Bakersfield.
Police were called at about 6:46 p.m. to a rollover crash at the intersection of Cottonwood Road and East White Lane, according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release.
Maria Delacruz Ramirez, 29, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck north on Cottonwood Road with an unrestrained male juvenile in her vehicle when Juan Moreno, 69, who was driving a Chrysler Sebring east on East White Lane, broadsided her truck, the news release said. Police determined Moreno failed to stop for a stop sign posted at the intersection, according to the news release.
Ramirez, Moreno and the juvenile were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment.
Police said Moreno was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash. The news release said he would be arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence when he was released from KMC.
Ramirez was driving without a valid California driver's license when the crash occurred, police said. The news release said she would be cited for being an unlicensed driver and allowing an unrestrained juvenile to ride in her car.
Anyone how witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Detail at 327-7111.
