Fire causes $100,000 in damage

At 12:16 p.m. Thursday, Kern County firefighters responded to a vacant 1400-square-foot single-story building in Shafter with a fire burning at its center.
Efforts to extinguish the fire in the 32100 block of Lorraine Lane were hampered by downed power lines and difficulty accessing the building. The blaze caused $100,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was injured.
