One injured in crash Wednesday

A motorist suffered major injuries in a crash on Lerdo Highway at Highway 33 Wednesday morning.

Benito Sierra-Guzman, 29, was driving westbound on Lerdo HIghway and stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Highway 33, according to the California Highway Patrol. Charles Thompson, 58, of Bakersfield, was driving northbound on Highway 33 approaching the intersection when Sierra-Guzman pulled out in front of him.

Thompson braked but was unable to stop in time and his truck struck the left side of Sierra-Guzman's car, officers said. Thompson was uninjured.
