Child died of smoke inhalation in Oildale fire

The coroner's office reported Friday that the child found dead in an Oildale home engulfed in flames died of smoke inhalation and his death was accidental.

A coroner's office news release said Aiden McDonald was 1 year, 9 months old when he died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Washington Avenue.

Kern County firefighters have said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation but is considered an accident.
