Arvin man arrested on suspicion of stealing farming equipment

The Kern County Sheriff's Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit arrested a man in connection with a burglary that happened June 13 at a large farming operation in the area of Rancho and Valpredo roads.

Large water valves and irrigation pipes were removed from the area. Manual Mendez Pantoja of Arvin was in possession of the stolen items, a sheriff's news release said.

The stolen items were worth about $10,000 and Pantoja caused about $500 in damage during the burglary, deputies reported. Pantoja was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and possession of stolen property. He was booked into the Kern County Sheriff's Office Central Receiving Facility.
