A referee for a youth soccer organization has taken a plea deal in connection with performing sex acts with a minor.
William Alexander Scranton, 29, pleaded no contest Thursday to oral copulation with a person under 16 and exhibiting harmful matter to a minor, according to Kern County Superior Court records. Three other felony charges were dismissed.
Scranton befriended a 15-year-old girl and her parents after meeting them through his work as a referee, California City police have said. Scranton sent the girl texts and photos of a sexual nature before arranging a meeting where he engaged in sexual acts with her.
Scranton was arrested Aug. 4. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.
