Violence that broke out Friday night at Lerdo Male Minimum Facility has prompted the cancellation of all inmate visitations this weekend.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office reported that the decision to close to visitors was made after a disturbance broke out among inmates in the facility yard at about 6:44 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies from the department's Metropolitan Division and its substations in Buttonwillow, Delano and Wasco responded, as did officers from the California Highway Patrol.

Several inmates suffered minor injuries but none required hospitalization, the department reported, adding that no deputies were injured.
