Air district officials are continuing the ban on fireplace use Friday throughout the Kern County portion of the San Joaquin Valley air basin.

Fireplace and wood stoves are allowed in the greater Frazier Park area.

The prohibition is caused by poor air quality.

Burning wood, pellets and manufactured fire logs in residential fireplaces, stoves and outdoor burning devices like fire pits and chimneys is prohibited.

Violators of the ban can be fined.
