California City police arrested a woman on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle Friday.
Police said they arrested Jennifer Heffernan after they went to the 19200 block of Neuralia Road for a vehicle that matched the description of a recently stolen automobile, a California City Police Department news release said.
Officers saw Heffernan, 34, taking things out of the trunk and arrested her after she admitted to driving the vehicle, police said. She was booked into the downtown jail in Bakersfield. She is being held on $20,000 bail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, the Kern County Sheriff's Office's inmate website said.
Heffernan was on parole from state prison and thus officers were able to go to her home and found other items also suspected to be stolen, the news release said. The stolen vehicle was returned without damage, police said.
