Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrested 27 people in a directed enforcement operation in Oildale Friday night on suspicion of charges including weapons violations, drug crimes and outstanding warrants.
The operation began at about 6:30 p.m. and concluded about midnight with 10 deputies focusing on the 100 and 200 blocks of Beardsley Avenue, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. The operation was developed to cut down on crime and better relationships with residents in that area, deputies said.
Deputies contacted almost 60 people and made arrests on charges including suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
The news release said several residents thanked deputies for the enforcement action and deputies hope to conduct similar operations in the future.
