Two arrested in connection with Ridgecrest burglaries

On Sept. 27, a resident in the 1400 block of Pinto Street in Ridgecrest reported a burglary of $450 worth of coins.

Three days later, a resident in the 3600 block of West Graff reported a burglary of $4,250 worth of coins and jewelry. Both of these residences are near each other and the incidents appeared to be related based on the time frame and method of entry into the residences.

Deputies found some of the stolen coins at a local coin store and identified a suspect. Deputies were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the suspect's residence when they received a call that two people were at another local store trying to sell jewelry.

Deputies contacted the people - Christina Johnston and Kevin Heeg - inside the store and discovered the jewelry was stolen from one of the burglaries.

Johnston was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property. Heeg was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia.

More stolen property from the two burglaries was found at Johnston's residence.
