Coroner identifies passenger in car that struck tree

The Kern County coroner's office has identified a 25-year-old man who died a day after the vehicle he was riding in struck a tree.

Alejandro Lopez, who was also known as Alejandro-Martin Lopez, of Taft, died at 4:33 a.m. March 25 at Kern Medical Center, according to a coroner's news release.

The incident happened at 7:27 p.m. March 24 at Highway 119 and East Kern Street. The Taft Police Department is investigating.
