Several fires started by lightning strikes Friday

At 1:25 p.m. Friday, Kern County firefighters received reports of numerous fires that were started due to lightning strikes in the areas of Lake Isabella and Jawbone Canyon.
Jawbone Inc. is located eight miles from Highway 14 on Jawbone Canyon Road. There are currently five separate fires in the area. Four of these fires are three acres or less in size, and the largest is 40 acres in size.
Squirrel Inc. is located in Squirrel Valley near the intersection of Big Springs Road and Dove Court in the US Forest Service land. The size is currently 30 to 50 acres and crews will remain on scene overnight doing mop up.
There are currently no structures threatened and no road closures. There are no reported injuries.
