Guilty plea in child porn case

Ridgecrest resident Ralph Michael Smith, 53, pleaded guilty Monday to receiving child pornography and was taken into custody.
According to the plea agreement, between Sept. 10, 2010 and Oct. 17, 2010 Smith received online more than 600 images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The images also involved the portrayal of sadistic, masochistic, and other depictions of violence.
Several of the minors depicted were prepubescent minors.
Smith was charged June 9, 2011, and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 9.
