Twenty-two arrested in prostitution investigation

Twenty-two people were arrested Tuesday during the Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Sheriff's Office's joint prostitution suppression operation, according to a BPD news release.
The agencies' Joint Vice Task Force focused on areas of places licensed to serve alcohol by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The operation was done on Union, South Union and Golden State avenues and Baker Street.
One man and 16 women were arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitution, according to the news release. Four women were arrested on suspicion of loitering for the purpose of committing acts of prostitution. And one man was arrested on suspicion of giving false information to a peace officer and violation of state parole.
