Deputy DA takes plea deal in DUI

A Kern County deputy district attorney who once prosecuted DUI cases has pleaded no contest to DUI with blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher and been sentenced to three years' probation.
Jared Jordan entered the plea earlier this month, according to court records. He was arrested in late May after a single-vehicle crash at Hageman and Allen roads.
Jordan was uninjured in the crash.
His attorney, Jeremy Brehmer, said Jordan was also sentenced to two days in jail, which he'll complete on work release for the Kern County Sheriff's Department. Brehmer said Jordan remains employed with the District Attorney's office, but he no longer works on DUI cases and hasn't since his arrest.
Brehmer added that breath tests showing Jordan had a BAC of .12 were inaccurate. A test done about 8:20 p.m. the night of the crash and then others at 10 p.m. and 10:04 p.m. all showed a BAC of .12, which is impossible because Jordan's body would have burnt off some alcohol during that time.
"Unfortunately, we know that scientifically the breath alcohol results were invalid, but because of employment concerns and the costs of trial he was unable to proceed to trial," Brehmer said.
