Defendant sentenced to three years in torture case

One of the defendants who had been accused of torturing a Bakersfield man last year was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday after pleading no contest to false imprisonment with violence.
Felix Robert Martin was sentenced by Judge Michael G. Bush in Department 1 of Kern County Superior Court.
Bakersfield police said Martin and several others assaulted a man that one of the defendants considered to be her boyfriend. That defendant, Micella Francine Mendoza, was sentenced to four years while her brother, Frankie Mendoza, received a nine-year sentence, according to Kern County Superior Court records.
