Shafter resident assaulted, robbed Sunday evening

Deputies are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon and robbery that happened at a residence in the 19200 block of Cherry Avenue in south Shafter.
A Shafter resident told deputies he was cutting wood in his yard Sunday evening when three men wearing ski masks approached him, one armed with a handgun.
The victim was ordered to the ground, and as he stumbled backwards the armed suspect fired three times, one of the bullets grazing the victim's hip. The victim fell and one of the suspects hit him over the head, bound him with tape, and dragged him into the victim's house.
The suspects ransacked the property and fled with a television, an air compressor and the victim's wallet.
