Man convicted for driving under the influence of marijuana

Kern County District Attorney Lisa Green announced that on Tuesday that Che Carter was convicted by a Kern County jury in Taft of driving under the influence of marijuana, illegal possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and speeding more than 100 miles per hour.
Carter was stopped by the California Highway Patrol for driving more than 100 miles per hour on Interstate 5 on Feb. 26, 2011. Carter was determined to be under the influence of marijuana and in possession three pounds of marijuana. Carter possessed a medical marijuana card, and he unsuccessfully claimed he was not impaired by the marijuana and that he was permitted to possess the three pounds of marijuana.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Chris Steiger.
