Bodfish fire burns more than 300 acres

By The Bakersfield Californian

Firefighters from four agencies were battling a fire in Bodfish Sunday that had burned more than 300 acres. As of about 8 p.m., the fire was 10 percent contained. About 250 personnel from the Kern County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection were working to contain the fire off of South Alpine Way in Bodfish. Five helicopters and six fixed-wing aircraft were used. The fire was spreading at a moderate rate of speed over steep terrain. A cause hadn't been determined as of Sunday evening. There were no injuries and no structures involved at that point.
