Kern County Sheriff's deputies are continuing their search for three men wanted in connection with a shooting and an assault late Saturday in east Bakersfield that sent two men to the hospital.

Joel Rodriguez, a Hispanic male in his 20s, was identified by witnesses as the suspected shooter. Deputies said he was in the company of Ephran Ugues, 27, and Jeremy Ugues, 31, at the time of the shooting.

Deputies had responded to a report of shots being fired in the 2900 block of Kentucky Street when they found a male victim of an assault.

A man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach was found nearby in the 2900 block of Lake Street.

Both victims were taken to Kern Medical Center.

The suspects fled the area in a black 2001 Ford Explorer with California plate 6FAZ764.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Kern County Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110 or Secret Witness (661) 322-4040. Anonymous text tips can be sent to TIP411 (847411). Just type the key word "KSCSO" prior to the message.
