The victims of a Saturday head-on crash on Highway 119 were identified Sunday by the Kern County Coroner Office.

Chad Everett, 32, of Taft, and Carlos Sanchez, 28, of Bakersfield, were killed in the crash about 11:54 a.m. west of Golf Course Road.

According to the CHP report, Brian Maloy of McKittrick was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu east on Highway 119 at 11:54 a.m. when he veered left into the path of a westbound 1994 GMC Sierra pickup.

Everett was killed while the driver, Dennis E. Gathings Jr., 39, and a passenger, Charles A. Lewis, 48, both of Taft, sustained major injuries.

They were admitted to Kern Medical Center.

Sanchez was a passenger in Maloy's car. Maloy, 31, sustained major injuries and was taken to KMC.

The collision slowed traffic for several hours. It remains under investigation.
