Boy rescued from Kern River

At 5:10 p.m. Saturday, a Kern County Sheriff's deputy was westbound on Highway 178 she was flagged down by the mother of a 14-year-old Bakersfield boy stranded on a rock in the middle of the Kern River.
Search and rescue teams responded and pulled the boy onto a raft. The boy was uninjured.
