Jury convicts man of murder in 2010 Oildale stabbing

A fatal stabbing more than three years ago in Oildale has resulted in a murder conviction against a 28-year-old man.

Jeffrey Thomas Hardin Jr. has been found guilty in the stabbing death of 48-year-old Michael Kabonic. The incident happened in the 900 block of Sheridan Avenue.

Hardin spent time in Patton State Hospital after being found incompetent to stand trial a few months after the Aug. 5, 2010 killing. A trial finally began in October of this year after he was re-evaluated and found fit to stand trial, and a jury convicted him Thursday.

A sentencing date had not been set as of Monday.
