Deputies arrest man and his elderly mother in Boron

Kern County Sheriff's deputies used a Taser to subdue a 55-year-old man suspected of lewd or lascivious acts involving children and arrested his 83-year-old mother on suspicion of delaying or obstructing a peace officer Friday in Boron.
Deputies went to a house in the 24000 block of Chaparral Avenue at about 4 p.m. but Ruth blocked them from the residence to stop them from reaching her son, Joseph, who was wanted in connection with an investigation of lewd acts with a minor, according to a sheriff's department news release.
Deputies saw Joseph through a metal security screen and told him he was under arrest and to step outside, but he and Ruth resisted and slammed the front door. As the door was shut, deputies deployed a Taser that "slightly" struck Joseph, according to the news release.
Deputies from the Mojave substation also arrived and the house was surrounded, deputies said. Moments later, a woman and small child came out and later Ruth was arrested. Ruth was booked into the Mojave Jail.
Joseph fled to the back of the house and armed himself with a large knife, the news release said. Deputies contacted him in the backyard and ordered him to drop the knife, which he did not do until they deployed a Taser again.
Joseph was taken to Kern Medical Center where he was placed under hospital guard and treated for minor wounds from being struck by the Taser. He was booked into the downtown jail in Bakersfield on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and delaying or obstructing a peace officer and is being held on $55,000 bail, according to the sheriff's department's inmate website.
