CHP officers under investigation in connection with alleged sexual assault resign

Two California Highway Patrol officers under investigation in connection with an alleged sexual assault have resigned from the agency.
The officers, whose names have not been released, resigned Oct. 5, CHP Sgt. Marvin Casey said. No other details were provided.
Kern County sheriff's detectives have been investigating the officers after a woman accused them of following her to her residence, where she said one of them sexually assaulted her in her bedroom. As of Thursday, charges had not been filed against them.
The alleged victim has told detectives she was stopped by a Kern County sheriff's deputy while driving about 2 a.m. Sept. 14 in the area of Merle Haggard Drive and Highway 99, according to deputies. The deputy suspected her of driving under the influence and requested the California Highway Patrol respond to the scene.
Deputies said two CHP officers arrived at 2:38 a.m., and the sheriff's deputy who made the initial stop left the scene. The woman told detectives that the officers agreed to follow her to her residence instead of arresting her for DUI.
The woman reported one of the officers sexually assaulted her after following her home, according to deputies.
