Suspect in fatal shooting found dead

A suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a woman in the 2600 block of South Eye Street was found dead in his vehicle Tuesday in an orange orchard in Lamont, according to Bakersfield Police Department and coroner’s office news releases.
A coroner’s office news release said Adan Miramontes, 52, was found dead in a vehicle near Hermosa Road and Tejon Highway at 2:23 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Bakersfield Police said he was “the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound” in the news release.
Miramontes had been wanted in connection with the shooting death of 44-year-old Maria Medina on Monday.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dave Cox at 326-3514.
