Bags of meth found inside fire extinguishers

By BREAKING NEWS BLOG

About noon Tuesday, deputies finished a narcotics investigation at the Travelers Lodge Motel at 1011 Oak St. in Bakersfield.

As deputies tried to enter the suspect's motel room, the suspect ran out the back door with a large bag containing clothing and three fire extinguishers. He was taken into custody by deputies who were waiting outside on that side of the room.

A closer inspection of the fire extinguishers revealed they had been altered. The writing on the label was in Spanish and indicated they were from Tijuana.

Each fire extinguisher was stuffed almost completely full with methamphetamine. The extinguishers were brought to the Kern County Fire Department and were cut open.

Each extinguisher contained a bag with three pounds of meth.

The suspect, Luis Perez-Salinas, 32, of Guadalajara, Mexico, was booked on suspicion of possession of meth for sales and other offenses.
