One motorist was killed Friday morning in a crash on Highway 119 east of Tupman Road in Buttonwillow.
The motorist's name had not been released as of late Friday afternoon, but California Highway Patrol officers identified her as 55 years old and from Bakersfield. She died at Kern Medical Center.
Officers said Matthew Lindsey, 28, of Bakersfield, was driving a Toyota pickup eastbound on HIghway 119 east of Tupman Road. The 55-year-old was driving a Nissan 350Z westbound on Highway 119.
Lindsey's pickup drifted into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Nissan, officers said. Lindsey suffered moderate injuries, as died Lindsay Bush, 29, of Bakersfield, a passenger in the Nissan.
Highway 119 was closed for an hour after the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.
