Sheriff's son receives year in jail

Aaron Kohlbi Youngblood, son of Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, was sentenced to a year in jail Tuesday after pleading no contest to drug possession while armed.

Fourteen other drug and weapons-related charges were dropped in the plea deal, court records said. The case was prosecuted by the Tulare County District Attorney due to the potential conflict of interest.

Aaron Youngblood was found sleeping in a pickup on April 8, 2012, Bakersfield police reports filed in court said. A search of the pickup and a box truck linked to him turned up a vast collection of guns, drugs, electronics, jewelry, various law enforcement uniform shirts, a stun gun reported stolen from a Sheriff's Office vehicle in February, and a Brett Favre coin collection.
