Shannon Nicole Johannsen, 34, was arrested Tuesday at her home in Bakersfield on charges of counterfeiting U.S. currency.
According to the four-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury last Thursday, from about October 2012 to March 2013 Johannsen, with intent to defraud, counterfeited Federal Reserve Notes in $100 and other denominations. She passed the notes at various businesses, including a casino in Bakersfield and a cellular phone store.
In March 2013, a search of her residence revealed digital images of $100 bills for use in counterfeiting activities.
If Johannsen is convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
