Pedestrian hit, injuries could be life-threatening

A pedestrian was struck mid-block in the 300 block of A Street where there wasn't a crosswalk Monday night, sending the woman to the hospital with serious injuries Bakersfield Police said could be life-threatening.

The woman's name was not released. She was said to be about 25 to 35 years old.

It happened at 8:15 p.m.

She was hit by a 1996 Mazda sedan driven by Zechariah Browden, 20, of Bakersfield, who wasn't injured. He remained at the scene and police said he is not suspected of driving under the influence. He was not cited.

Officers ask that anyone who witnessed the collision call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
