Five days after Peter Martinez graduated from the Bakersfield Law Enforcement Academy Class 13-02 and became Officer Martinez, he was arrested at police headquarters on suspicion of domestic violence and became former Officer Martinez.

According to police, the incident occurred about 9 p.m. in the 9000 block of Bremerton Court on Aug. 15, less than 12 hours after the academy graduation ceremony.

BPD spokesman Sgt. Joe Grubbs declined to provide additional details, citing personnel issues.

Martinez was arrested Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at 1601 Truxtun Ave. and booked into the Kern County Jail.
