Two Terra Bella brothers arrested after deputies find marijuana in car trunk

On Monday, narcotics investigators assigned to the Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team conducted directed narcotics enforcement in the southeast area of Bakersfield.
At about 4:30 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle occupied by two brothers from Terra Bella, Calif., identified as Isidrio Torrez, 39, and Alberto Ramos, 36, near the intersection of Houghton Road and South Union Avenue. During the stop, investigators noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and subsequently located approximately 37 pounds of marijuana hidden in the trunk of the car.
The marijuana had been individually packaged in one pound bags and placed in three large trash bags. Ramos and Torrez admitted they had grown the marijuana in Terra Bella and transported it to Bakersfield where they intended to sell it for $700.00 per pound.
Torrez and Ramos were arrested and booked in the Kern County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales, transportation of drugs and conspiracy. Narcotics detectives assigned to the Kern County Sheriff's Office Major Violators Unit assisted with the investigation.
