Ten-year sentence for man convicted of fatal 2012 shooting

By BREAKING NEWS BLOG

A man convicted in the fatal 2012 shooting of a friend was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday.

Charles Carnelius Martin, 24, pleaded no contest in November to voluntary manslaughter after prosecutors agreed to dismiss a second-degree murder charge.

Martin's first trial in September ended in a hung jury.

Police said Martin shot 17-year-old Marquette Demetrius Green in the 1900 block of Hasti Acres Drive, south of Ming Avenue and east of Stine Road. The two had argued before the shooting.
