By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Kern County Sheriff's deputies pursued a stolen motorcycle for about 10 minutes early Tuesday at speeds close to 90 miles per hour before the driver crashed on Panorama Drive near Bucknell Street.

Deputies received a call about 12:30 a.m. from the victim of the theft, who was following the stolen motorcycle south on Highway 65 near Seventh Standard Road. Deputies went after the stolen bike as it went south on Highway 65, according to a sheriff's news release.

The driver, Dalton Thessen, 22, of Bakersfield, crashed and resisted arrest, so a sheriff's canine was used to take him into custody, deputies reported. Thessen was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment of injuries from the crash.

Deputies said Thessen will be booked into the Sheriff's Central Receiving Facility on suspicion of grand theft auto, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, assault on a police canine and receiving stolen property.
