Due to tips from the public, on Thursday, Bakersfield Police detectives assigned to the Financial Crimes Unit went to a residence located in the 2300 block of Gage Street to conduct follow-up investigation on a check forgery case.
Upon arrival, the detectives contacted Andrew Manuel Garcia, 54, and obtained permission to search the residence. A search of the residence revealed 59 firearms and live ammunition. Three of the firearms were assault weapons.
Garcia was arrested and transported to the Kern County Jail where he was booked for felon in possession of firearms, possession of assault weapons and felon in possession of ammunition.
