Third suspect arrested in connection with robbery, officer-involved shooting

By BREAKING NEWS BLOG

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with last week's alleged robbery and officer-involved shooting.

Police said Montrice Maize, 26, was arrested in the 2000 block of Niles Street on Monday and booked on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang.

Two others -- Eric Miles Jr., 23, and Brandon Burns, 29, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy following Wednesday's incident. Miles is also being held on suspicion of evading and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.

Police said the suspects stole a large duffle bag and cash from the victim, who was uninjured, at The Marketplace and drove away.

Police tracked the suspects to a business on Ashe Road and White Lane, where three suspects ran from the car Miles was driving. Police say Miles drove directly at a police officer in an effort to get away, and the officer shot him.

Miles suffered moderate injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jeff Watts at 326-3543.
