By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

A female jogger in California City escaped a potential kidnapping Wednesday, police said, after fighting the man and running away.

Police said the incident occurred at the intersection of Hacienda and South Loop boulevards about 4 p.m.

According to police, the woman was jogging east on South Loop when a black Toyota Tacoma extended cab with tinted windows pulled beside her.

The woman turned the corner at the intersection but the suspect, described as a black male about 6 feet tall, blocked her path. When she tried to run past he grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her away.

She struggled and escaped, and saw the vehicle drive away toward Redwood Boulevard.

The suspect has a dark complexion and dark hair, along with unknown tattoos on both arms. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

The truck model is described as between 1996-2004.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call California City police at 760-373-8606.
