Defendant acquitted of attempted murder, other charges

Bruce Anthony Hollis was acquitted Wednesday afternoon of charges including attempted murder.

Hollis, 49, had faced a possible sentence of life in prison if convicted, according to a Kern County Public Defender's office news release. He was also acquitted assault with a gun on a person, being a felon in possession of a gun and possession of marijuana for sale.

The charges stemmed from the 2009 shooting of a 22-year-old woman at the Elks Lodge at 1414 E. California Ave.
