Man dies in off-road accident in east Kern

A Thousand Oaks man died in an off-road accident early Saturday in east Kern County.
The county sheriff's department reported that James Patrick McNeal, 27, lost control of his Ford Ranger pickup at 12:30 a.m. in the open desert on Dove Springs Road 2.6 miles west of State Route 14.
A department news release said McNeal rolled the vehicle and died on the scene.
