Bakersfield police officers dispatched Friday night to reports of an injury collision in the 900 block of Union Avenue discovered a bicyclist had been struck in a hit-and-run.
Bakersfield Police Department officers who responded at about 8:51 p.m. found area resident Tony Otero, 56, had been hit by a car traveling northbound as he rode his bicycle across Union Avenue.
Otero was taken to a local hospital with unspecified moderate to major injuries.
The car that struck him is described as a newer, dark-colored, four-door compact, which drove away north on Union Avenue after the accident.
Further details on the accident and Otero's exact condition remained unknown Saturday.
