The driver of a black Ford F-150 died in after hitting a tree near Oildale Friday night.
At 9:08 p.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a call about the crash of a truck that had been traveling south on HIghway 99 south of Highway 65.
It appeared the driver of the truck was going at an unsafe speed for weather conditions, according the CHP. The driver left the roadway and collided into a light pole and then a tree, which set the truck on fire, police said.
The driver, who had not been identified as of Friday, died in the vehicle fire.
