By The Bakersfield Californian

A young bicyclist was struck by a vehicle near east Bakersfield and suffered minor injuries Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Kirk Arnold said CHP officers responded at approximately 12:15 p.m. Saturday to a report of a traffic collision with an ambulance en route, in unincorporated Kern County at Sterling Road and Eucalyptus Drive.

A boy or teen-ager was struck by a vehicle, Arnold said, and transported to Kern Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Further details were unavailable Saturday as the incident remained under investigation.
