Sheriff's unit seizes more than 1/4 pound of meth, makes three arrests

More than a quarter pound of methamphetamine turned up in a probation-related search Friday night in the 900 block of Richmond Street, resulting in three arrests, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to the meth, deputies from the Sheriff's Office Gang Suppression Section discovered several thousand dollars in cash, surveillance equipment, drug paraphernalia and material related to illegal narcotics sales at about 10:30 p.m., according to a department news release.

Deputies had gone to the location in search of 28-year-old Gabriel Cruz, who the release said was on probation. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating terms of an electronic monitoring program.

David De La Garza, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Tranquilino Lopez, 25, was arrested on suspicion of violating the terms of an electronic monitoring program.
