"John" sting on Union Avenue nets 29 arrests

On Thursday members of the Bakersfield Police Department/Kern County Sheriff's Department Joint Vice Task Force conducted a "John-Sting" prostitution suppression operation targeting the customers of prostitutes. A total of 29 arrests were made for prostitution related offenses.
The operation was conducted on Union Avenue, an area known to have a high rate of prostitution related activity. These areas are close to residential neighborhoods and business areas where there have been numerous complaints regarding prostitution activity.
