Burglary suspect arrested after short chase
By BREAKING NEWS BLOG
At 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a burglary alarm at the Super Q Market in the 700 block of Quantico Avenue in east Bakersfield.
When deputies arrived, they saw someone jump off the roof of the store and run away. The suspect, Carlos Ochoa, 24, was arrested after a brief chase and found to be in possession of cash and other items believed stolen from the store.
An SUV was stopped in the alley to the rear of the store while deputies were investigating the burglary. A man and woman in the vehicle are also believed to be involved in the burglary, but their exact involvement was not immediately known.
It appears Ochoa and possibly an accomplice entered the store from the roof after removing a vent and making a hole in the ceiling. The cash register was forced open and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, and so were several cartons of cigarettes.
Ochoa was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and resisting arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
