A man died after being stabbed multiple times during a fight with another man Tuesday afternoon in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, police said.
The victim was identified at Donald Ray Herron, 46, of Bakersfield, according to a Kern County Sheriff’s coroner’s office news release.
At 1:25 p.m., police were called to the park at 901 E. California Ave., said Bakersfield Police Sgt. Uriel Pacheco. They found Herron with multiple stab wounds and took him to Kern Medical Center, where he died.
Herron got into a physical fight with a 56-year-old man, who then stabbed Herron with a knife, Pacheco said. It’s unknown what the fight was about or if the two knew each other. Police detained the suspect and were questioning witnesses in the park, Pacheco said.
